Live Action Getup: Spring Morning in Neutrals

LiVe Action Getup:
Spring Morning in Neutrals

Spring is the season of pink, purple, and baby blue pastels. But first, coffee.

Shirt Jacket

Layers are mostly associated with the seasons in the second half of the year, but the temperature swings in spring, 45° at 7 and 80° at noon, make having light layers even more important.

The shirt jacket is one of the most comfortable and sartorially flexible layers. Heavier than a button up, not as hot as a cardigan, and as cozy as a sweatshirt.

Slub Cotton Henley

The white henley is one of my favorite chameleon style picks: Wear it with dark denim and it looks rugged, wear it with dress pants and it looks refined, wear it with shorts and it takes a t-shirt and shorts outfit up about 20 notches.

Slub is a type of cotton that contains small imperfections, like lumps, divots, and areas that are more and less dense. It gives this piece a bit of texture and a lightweight, worn feeling that’s halfway to vintage without the premium vintage price tag.

A medium-weight twill chino in classic British Khaki is one of those perfect smart casual style picks: As long they fit well, they'll carry you through anything spring and summer can throw at you. After that, layer up with a blazer in fall. Wear with earth tones for a put-together masculine style; add vibrant colors and embrace your inner prep.

These Levi's “XX Standard Taper Chino” do away with the traditional 500 naming convention in these modern DJ Khaled-helmed take by the world's oldest denim brand.

While I dig the unique details the 70s offer over the standard Chuck Taylor, it's the off-white “parchment” colorway that really sets them apart. I get compliments every time I wear them. If you're a guy who just doesn't do white canvas sneakers because you don't like how they look after they get dusty and dirty, these are what you're looking for. They pair great with olive, gray, and navy too.
