Live Action Getup:

It's Not Spring Just Yet

If you were to plan your outfit based on what fashion magazines and retailers are pushing, you'd think it was a sunny 80 degrees. But most of us still have the tail end of winter to deal with – 30 degrees with snow in much of the country, and heavy rain for the last three days here in Los Angeles.  This simple Getup will keep you warm, dry, and, of course, stylish.

I've had my American-made Chippewa GQ Apache Lacer boots for 4 years, first appearing in our Fall Boot Series. They're easily my go-to on rainy days because of their thick rubber sole and 5.5 oz full grain leather is made to take a beating. These will easily out-splash, out-snow, and out-last you're run of the mill mall fashion boot.

Great Getup as always, Andrew. Big fan of your style sense, especially your sweater game. I have the same Chippewa Apache boots and they are worth every penny ! Keep up the good work !

Thanks Jack! This kid in geometry class used to call me “Sweater Boy,” I guess I’ve been working on it for a few years. 😂

Awesome use of layers. I’ve just got myself a Gap black denim jacket on sale that’s getting a lot of use with chinos at the moment.

I’ve got a similar sweater from H&M from one of the previous get up’s that I’d sub in, so I’d be interested to re create this look.

Lastly Andrew’s showing once again that black and brown casually can go together.

Nice! Yeah those would look great together. Black and brown! 🙂

Definitely recommend you check out Gustin’s Waxed Trucker Jacket. The brown color was all the craze on MFA a few years ago. Really similar to the F&T one, comes in lined and unlined, and for ~$140. The only problem is they have kind of a weird ordering process to keep the price down so low.

Yeah that looks great! I’m a fan of Gustin, though it is a unique ordering process that requires patience, like you mentioned.

Do you really wear all these layers in LA? It’s 60 degrees there right now…..

Yep, wore this exact outfit last week.

Nope, it was cold and rainy.

It’s 80 degrees in the South today and I just packed up all of my heavier sweaters… lol.

            Great stuff Andrew!

Another Great Getup from Andrew! And one I will shamelessly emulate just as soon as my waxed trucker returns from reproofing! Waxed jackets work, but they do require periodic reproofing, and Filson offers this service for their own garments as part of their special services: https://www.filson.com/special-services . In case you are doing it yourself check out this video from Barbour: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mglw9EYoBBI . Of course, finding the Irish farmhouse windowsill work space is the most considerable challenge presented in this video.

Andrew, I love this outfit and my Chippewa boots that I bought after the recommendation. They are my go to for daily use, motorcycle riding, and sometimes even short hikes.

What’s your maintenance on these boots look like? Best product for maintaining the leather? How often do you perform it?

Looking forward to the answers. I’ve recently tried Chamberlains leather milk which seems to be doing fairly well but the boots still dry out quick.

Great getup as usual Andrew. Thanks. I love the Levi’s Marty Chambray shirt. I have all three colors, in large. I purchased the Dress Blue and Castle Rock in April 2016. By the time I realized I really liked them the Dress Blue was out of stock in my size. I got another Castle Rock Feb 2017 and I have been watching this on Amazon often since then. Sadly I don’t think they are going to restock Dress Blue. I kept that second Castle Rock packaged to open if/when my current fails me. 🙂 I just bought the Azure Blue last week to be sure I would have the great fit before they are all gone. I have no pull but Levi’s might listen to you, Andrew, and restock if you asked? Please?
