Live Action Getup: Havana Club

Inspired by warmer weather, Obama’s visit to Cuba, and the potential to actually buy the one and only Havana Club in the USA in the not too distant future.

I’m digging everything about this look. I haven’t owned a Stacey Adams shoes in years. How’s the quality? I do own a pair of JCP Stafford Deacon boots and they’re great for the price. Also that weekender bag looks great, too!

    • browneagle44 ロベルト

I’ve had a pair of Deacons for twoish years. They’re great!

    • Andrew

Glad you like it!! Hopefully someone that has the boots can chime in.

  • Josh

Ugh. Now I have to buy all of this for spring wedding season. I’ve been looking for an excuse to pick up these boots though.

    • browneagle44 ロベルト

I’ve had mine for two years now. They’re a great buy, especially for the price.

    • Andrew

      Haha, you sound so disappointed!

  • Brian Short

Great similar shoe you can get by Steve Madden Swanky, they are a wing tip boot, but give the same look, exact same color. And, you can get them on 6pm for $39.99 right now

    • Andrew

      Awesome!! Thanks for the rec.

  • John Waldowski

I was looking at this outfit and I thought it looked really sharp. Then I realized that I pretty much have everything on the list so I guess I know what I’m wearing to work tomorrow. I just got that H&M blazer on sale for $29.99 too.

    • Chris Scott

Damn that’s one hell of a deal for that blazer. I’m sorry I missed that!

    • Andrew

Wow! That’s a steal! If you wear it, share it a photo with us! 🙂

  • Hagareno

    Really digging this one

    • Andrew

      Glad you like it! 🙂

  • Ryan

Ok… I’ll be the one to ask. Have we all turned the corner on this whole “northern lights” rule or is it still a thing?

Personally, I think this is on point.

    • Chris Scott

I’m pretty sure we have. This look was partially inspired by Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis from the original Ocean’s 11. If it works for them then it works for me!

      • Ryan

        Amen to that!!

  • Martin Calder

Love the color of the jacket and the pants. Once I get some commissions in from my new job…..I am buying them!!

    • Andrew

Awesome, it’ll lead to more commissions! 🙂

  • drizzle

Outstanding getup, love it. Having trouble finding the shoes here in the UK though – would something like these work? (Loake Burford)

    • Andrew

      Yeah I dig them!

  • Hagareno

Bizarre. I’m glad I waited a day before trying to purchase these because most of the items suddenly went on sale for the next couple days. Just saved a total of $100 on the getup. 🙂 Some Easter luck!

    • Andrew

      Whoa!! Nice!!!

Bacardi is real rum bro, if you buy the cheap white rum then that is on you, but they have quality dark rum light years ahead of Havana Club. Just because it’s Cuban doesn’t make it better.

    • Jorge Canovas

Man, I saw this article on Pinterest and had to come on here to defend Bacardi. If you don’t like Bacardi, that’s one thing, but don’t call it a “ripoff”. Folks think that just because something is made in Cuba that it is automatically high-rating. Not true. Same for cigars.

Some of the best cigars in the world are made by Cuban families in Central America (Honduras, and Nicaragua.)

(BTW, I bought a bottle of Havana Club añejo 7 años earlier this year in Santiago, and I didn’t like it at all as a sipping rum. It’s strictly a rum & Coke example.)

      • Andrew

This is referring only to the “Havana Club” name trademark dispute, Bacardi took on the name after the embargo started, selling a product called “Havana Club” in the US that was not the original. The US trademark office actually just revoked Bacardi’s right to use the name.

        • Jorge Canovas

You must see my point that the way that the article was worded omitted any side notes. Most folks don’t know the behind-the-scenes players (Bacardi, Arechabala family, Pernod Ricard, and the Cuban gov’t.,) in that whole ordeal, so they will just see the above comment as a Cuba vs. The World comparison. That’s why I threw in the cigar reference – the same thing happens in that scene.

I am really feeling this look.

I love this outfit. I personally will be sweating oerfusely in Havana if I wore it there!

  • The Leach Life

I think I need to go and buy that weekender bag!

Would black jeans work in place of the brown chinos? That’s what I thought they were at first glance… Would save me spending so much cash!

    • Andrew

Absolutely, it’d be a bit more urban but a great look.

  • Saul Prado

Dang, seems like everytime I go to buy something from here, it’s always sold out. Just tried to find that blazer but no luck. Is there a window on some of this stuff? When do you post the getup, perhaps if I knew that I could be ready next time. Thanks.

  • Jorge Canovas

Hey, you guys are absolutely insane calling Bacardi rum a “Puerto Rican Ripoff”. Learn your history. Ron Bacardi is the original Cuban rum heavyweight. Havana Club didn’t appear until after the revolution.

Most of their product (Havana Club, Ron Santiago, etc.) is distilled and aged in Bacardi’s old rum-making infrastructure in Cuba. I mean, what does that say about Bacardi’s knowledge on rum making?

    C’mon, now.

I just found this website and I´m Fascinated! I really like the concept & felt in love with all the articles. Btw I´m from Mexico City. Thanks 4 shared Andrew

Great getup! I’m living in Australia so some of the brands/stores aren’t avilable over here. However I’ve managed to recreate a similar look as closely as possible with a H&M jacket in grey (I picked up on special for $30!), some slim fit chinos in a dark khaki and shirt/shoes/tie/belt I already had.

I’m liking it a lot. Thanks for the tips, I really enjoy these articles.

Woo hoo! I have similar pieces of each! Now I need a reason to put together this look togethter!
