Free Art Download: RAF Pilot Getting a Haircut Between Missions, 1942

RAF Pilot getting a haircut 1942 download print

This incredible image has been circling different sites like Reddit and Pinterest. It's a photo from 1942 of a Royal Air Force pilot getting his ears lowered, sitting on the runway while enjoying a read. (One Redditor found the book he's reading, Greenmantle by John Buchan, an espionage story published during World War 1 where undercover operatives survive with only their wits in enemy territory.)

There are so many things I love about this photo, the colors, the apparent calmness of these two gents during wartime, and of course the young pilot smoking a pipe. I searched around and found the largest version I could and prepared it to print just as we did with the Hemingway image. This one has a very slight amount of pixel artifacting, but it is only noticeable within a couple of inches.

This is part of our awesome Free Art Download series, be sure to also check out our collection post, with over 40 free printable wall art downloads.

Follow the instructions on the Hemingway post to have it printed for a dollar and set in a $5 frame. Be sure to choose color instead of black and white in the instructions.

If you make one I'd love to see it!
