The Mint Julep Cocktail Recipe
A simple, straightforward classic craft cocktail
Total Time 5 minutes mins
- 2 oz. Bourbon Michter’s US*1
- 1 tsp. Superfine sugar
- 2 tsp. Water
- Four large fresh mint leaves
- Crushed ice
- Spring of mint
Rinse and dry the mint leaves and place them in the bottom of a metal julep cup (a double Old Fashioned glass will do in a pinch). Add sugar and water, then muddle with the mint leaves. Fill the julep cup with crushed ice, and pour the bourbon over the top of it, stirring gently until the outside of the cup frosts over. Some of the ice will melt as you do this; just add more. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
