For men across America, the first days of summer entail dragging the cargo shorts and baggy t-shirts out of the closet.
These garments have their place – yard work, amusement parks – but there are better alternatives for day-to-day wear. Flat-front chino and denim shorts are much more palatable, especially when kept above the knee. [Watch Primer's Visual Guide to Shorts, and read it here] Short-sleeve button-downs are an easy item to toss on, but short-sleeve hoodies are just as valid.
In these transitory weeks between spring and summer, the weather can change sporadically, requiring pants one day and tank-tops the next. Your wardrobe should be capable of handling these swings, so don't pack away everything quite yet. Hold onto a few of your favorite medium-temperature pieces, and pair them with your summer style staples.
