Tried on that peacoat last season and was not impressed, not even for $35. Spend the extra money, $150 total, and pick up one from your local Navy Surplus Store. Awesome quality, looks amazing, and you’ll have it for years and years. The company that makes them is Fidelity. They have been supplying our Sailors since 1941 from Boston, MA. They’re also sized to actual jacket sizes instead of s/m/l so you’ll be able to find your exact fit.

And while you’re there, check out their collection of wool blankets/throws. Usually around $30-50 and they are legit.

I agree, the real deal can’t be beat. But I picked up one of Old Navy’s peacoats in a thrift store three years ago for around $5 and have been extremely happy with it. It’s a damn shame if the build quality has gone down :-/

Likewise, I also picked up a fieldcoat-inspired coat at target five years ago and it’s still going strong 🙂

Those wingtips though…so dapper (and the price is phenomenal).

    • TJ

Agreed. For that kind of price you can beat them up all fall & winter & throw them away at the end of the season if they’re too bad. If not they could easily be worn year round.

Was going to say the same.

I actually picked up those bass wingtips brand new, from the bass store, on sale for $8.97! fantastic deal! Im actually wearing them right now as I type this

      Wait…$8.97?? That’s insane!

      • Corey

A friend of mine was at the bass store saturday and called me and asked me if i wanted them! No way I would pass them up!

I would like to recommend the UNIQLO Peacoat in navy. It’s $129 on the US website. I picked it up for 100 euro while in France.

It’s a very high quality jacket for the price. Construction is very solid and the material is nice and warm.

Sadly went to purchase these shoes only to find that they increased to $80. oh well.

  • Clark

Went to purchase the shoes, but this site apparently increased their demand… they now cost $80. Sad day. Not worth it for Bass shoes, sad I missed the boat. Thanks for a great find though!

What would one recommend for a belt to go with those shoes? I have a similar pair and can’t figure out a decent belt to go with them

I don’t worry too much about making sure my shoe and belt leather matches. For these shoes, a tan, brown, or burgundy belt would look great. The color would really depend on what the rest of the outfit is, sometimes a dark brown can split an outfit up in a bad way.

I own these Bass shoes, and they may also be one of the most comfortable shoes I own. They feel like sneakers.
