I really like this get up, at my office I’d be the most dressed up person in there with this on, so I may have to lose the tie but other than that I think it’s spot on for my location and the weather!

Great! What kind of work do you do? Just curious.

I handle AP and basic IT work for a small company (~50 employees). Family owned and operated. They’re all really laid back, pretty sure I’ve never seen anyone else in long sleeve button ups haha.

I am in the same boat as @AJBoilanger. Probably even more so. BTW–Great outfit Andrew. Just can’t imagine wearing it at my office. 4 person, recruiting firm. Everything we do is over phone and internet. Never meet clients or candidates. Hard to get motivated sometimes to dress better in the environment.

Our work is all online and over the phone but we have students come by for tours once in a while. Our requirements are business casual and we have a WIDE range of looks floating around. I find that dressing better helps get into the “business time” mindset. On days when I know I’ll have a high workload, or need to get a lot done for senior management I kick it up a notch.

DapperdHoo, I work for an online university and supervise the Student Services department. My particular department is pretty good as far as appropriate dress goes, but others have everything from wrinkled untucked polos to what I would call “club rat” outfits…and they wonder why they don’t get promoted :S Performance is a big part of your job, but you have to look like someone others want to lead them too.

“Club rat”…that’s awesome. Maybe we can get a club rat Get Up one day on here from Andrew. The Anti-Get Up article.

I might have the opposite problem. I start work on Monday as an associate in a law office and I’m not sure how chinos will go over. I interned there last summer and remember most people wearing dress pants on most days.

I agree. I love the outfit, but I see nothing even remotely close to business casual about it. Maybe for happy hour cocktails…

Business casual isn’t just tan khakis and a dress shirt or polo anymore. It’s a sliding scale based on work atmosphere and level of dress of colleagues. If you disagree just browse the comments of other business casual Getups, someone always thinks its either too dressed up, not dressed up enough, or inappropriate for their job responsibilities. I do what I can. 😉

you’re doing fine. I have to wear a suit every day to work, and i STILL enjoy the getups that don’t apply to me, if not for pattern mixing, then general weekend wear. Keep it up!

Anyone have experience with the H&M chinos? They look great but the size thing confuses me…is the size for both waist and length? I’m not seeing an option to choose between them.

I believe some of H&M pants have one length, 34″ I think, meant to be tailored.

Okay, thanks! 34″s perfect for me, ordering a couple pairs now! Another awesome Getup!

      Andrew

      Hey 5252,

Here are the measurements of the glasses:

      Lens Width:53 mm
      Lens Height:30 mm
      Bridge Width:19 mm
      Arm Length:140 mm

There’s a link under “Size Match” that discusses it a bit more.

We buy all our glasses and contacts (at least I do… my wife just had PRK done) from Coastal. Great site!

I got a pair of free glasses from Coastal and I love them! They have an offer where you can get your first pair free! http://www.coastal.com/firstpairfree

Does anyone have any experience with the Chippewa boots? I noticed there’s a couple styles on sale at Huckberry for $229, and I’m considering picking up a pair.

Also, they’re not dissimilar to the 1000 mile boot by Wolverine, albeit a tad less dressy and less expensive. I need a pair of boots and it’s probably between these and the 1000 mile boot.
