Your Cologne for Fall

Picking a new cologne is a complex equation balancing what you like, what women like, and what you wouldn't mind smelling like.

"La Nuit De L'Homme" by Yves Saint Laurent (pronounced Eve Sane-lor-aun) accomplishes all of these splendidly. It's modern and sexy, which pleases the ladies, and masculine with sweet notes of wood and tobacco for you. It's perfect for a winter evening out, but the simplicity fits in any time of year.

The scent experts at Base Notes, the fragrance database for the web, give it strong reviews for longevity, aroma, and, perhaps most importantly for a cologne: compliment factor. It's best described by one reviewer: "This fragrance was made to attract the opposite sex and it does its job very well."

Pick it up: YSL, $60

I’d also recommend checking out Kouros by Yves Saint Laurent. It’s an old school cologne which can a little difficult to find, but it can be procured on Amazon. The folks at Base Notes rank it among the best. It’s probably more of a fall/winter cologne. If you’re into acqua-style colognes like the painfully ubiquitous Acqua Dio Gio by Giorgio Armani (i.e. the scent of every frat-boy from the late 90s), you’d best stay away from the heavy wood notes of Kouros. It’s a very divisive scent.

Yay! Im proud to say i already had this bad boy, though in the after shave. Anyone else seem to think that after shave’s stay on longer than the actual colognes themselves?

its not bad but i would recommend getting away from the macys counter a little more…maybe spend just a little more and try some tom ford or acqua di parma….i do own this ysl scent now but would probably go with the homme instead from ysl
