Top 10 Men’s Summer Essentials – Bean Boozled Edition with Ashley Weston, Celebrity Menswear Stylist

Ashley Weston is a celebrity menswear stylist who has styled covers for GQ, Esquire, and Vanity Fair and has dressed such clients like Jon Hamm, Harrison Ford, Chris Pratt, and Samuel L. Jackson. I had the pleasure of meeting Ashley a couple years ago at StyleCon (another reason you should go) and we've been friends ever since.

She invited me to join her so we could each discuss our 10 summer essentials – but with a twist. If she didn't have an item on her list that I did, we had to play Bean Boozled, a jelly bean game where you either get a delicious flavor or a disgusting one like booger, stinky cheese, or dog food.

We had such a great time! Be sure to follow her on YouTube and Instagram, and give Primer a follow too.

Here are some affordable options based on my selections, but you'll definitely want to watch the video for more insight!

Any brand recommendations for fitted short sleeve shirts (button-ups only) for guys with skinny arms?

Definitely start with H&M, they run slim.

Thanks Andrew. I have one from H&M already and it’s not bad, so I just ordered another to see how it fits.

I’m also curious how Frank & Oak’s fit.

My experience with F&O is good, they’re slim also.

Her voice was like nails on a chalkboard to me. I couldn’t finish the video. I certainly respect her opinion on menswear though. If anyone could list her 10 essentials, I’d be very interested in it.

    Hilarious video!

    Ashley is gorgeous!

I go for the 7-inch inseam. I tend to favor an Ivy league/east coast prep style and I think they match that.
I love light denim. I’m not much of I got a pair from J Crew factory and I always get compliments on them. Don’t hate on the light denim!
I’ve thought about getting a Panama hat but I don’t think I can pull it off.

Just wanna say I appreciate lists like these. Also I recently stumbled onto Ashley’s site and I love the essentials list. While there are some things I won’t wear, most items I do have in my wardrobe or plan on adding them.

Hey also, when can we, big body guys will have an article that could help us to look good and not just stare at athletic skinny guys look sharp? By big I mean like endomorph, I’m a 242 lb guy, in between muscular and chubby, how can I choose my clothes without looking fat?

The principles apply across the board, focus on fit, regardless of size.
