I've always thought macro-photography provided an interesting perspective that we don't normally get to see. You might have noticed I like to get in close on a lot of the photos I do for Primer. Unfortunately, I've never had a macro lens to achieve really close-up, crisp shots that expose minute detail invisible to the naked eye. Until now – and it only costs $15.
The Easy Macro band is a sturdy rubber band fitted with a small macro lens that fits over the camera lens on your cell phone. Since it's a rubber band it'll fit an iPhone, Android, Blackberry or any other phone you got sucked into a two year contract with.
I came across the Easy Macro while browsing the Photojojo store, a really cool website that sells all kinds of gadgets and trinkets for the photography inclined. (The photo lens coffee cup makes a great gift for any photographer on your list.)
Not only are the pictures amazing, the band comes on a plastic card so you can just slip it in your wallet. Now, the next time you stumble across a black widow in her web you can just pull out your Easy Macro lens and go to town. Did I mention it's only 15 bucks? Crazy what we can do these days.
These shots were all taken with natural lighting. Some of them were even handheld, though you can minimize motion blur by propping the phone on something and maximize detail.
