Gentleman’s Goal: Take a Woman on a Picnic Within the Next Two Weeks

It has been said that variety is the spice of life. Keeping things fresh and exciting is a challenge, and sometimes coming up with the right idea for a special day with your lady is no picnic. Unless, of course, you take her on a picnic, which you should totally do. We challenge you to finally take that girl on a much-deserved, overdue picnic within two weeks. Will you accept?

It has been said that variety is the spice of life. Keeping things fresh and exciting is a challenge, and sometimes coming up with the right idea for a special day with your lady is no picnic. Unless, of course, you take her on a picnic, which you should totally do. A well-planned picnic is the perfect way to spend a lovely summer day with your lovely lady, and if you are like most people, you cannot remember the last time you actually went on a picnic.

Therefore, the lads and gals here at Primer present you with this Gentleman’s Goal: Take a Woman on a Picnic Within the Next Two Weeks.

Three things matter when planning the perfect picnic: the menu, the setting, and the tools of the trade. Get these three right, and you are smooth sailing. Miss the ball on one, and your picnic is in danger of sucking. So give yourself some planning time. This goal gives you two weeks, spend week one on preparation.

Let’s break it down:

The Menu

Picnic food should be simple, light, and fun, just like a summer day. Find a decent salad recipe, like this Grilled Chicken-Avocado Caprese Salad from BrokeAss Gourmet. Something that is quick and easy to make and serve later. Pair it with crusty bread and some dipping oil and a Sauvignon Blanc. The idea is to pull a gourmet meal out of a basket with little effort. On the subject of baskets…

The Tools of the Trade

Yogi Bear can attest to the value of a good “pic-a-nic basket.” Well, we do one better than Yogi with the Picnic Time Toluca Insulated Picnic Pack. This has everything you need: plates, A blue bag of food for picnicutensils, shatter-proof wine glasses while also serving as a cooler. Well worth the $30 you can find it for online. You can also find special picnic blankets lined with plastic on one side to protect your date from a damp ground.

The Setting

You could get the menu and tools perfect, but without the right setting, you will endure a picnic fail. To avoid that, do some location scouting. In your lady’s mind, the ideal picnic spot is on a hill over looking a park where children play by the lake. Try to find a spot with a measure of privacy where you can still do a bit of people watching. Don’t forget to keep tabs on the weather forecast, and no matter what the weatherman says, have a Plan B in case of rain.

With a little foresight, this could be the best date you go on this year. So get to work, and at some point in the next two weeks, be a true gentleman and take your lady out on a picnic. Leave us comments here to let us know how it went, and happy picnicking!
