I agree on every point, except with the movie 300. You weren’t supposed to feel bummed about them dying. You were never supposed to feel bummed at a single point of the moment. Only wowed at the action, and maybe a little warrior’s pride that they went down fighting. That’s it. I’m not sure how you can think badly about a true story. Like, there no director for life and what REALLY HAPPENED IN HISTORY. 300 died fighting. Shit happens all the time. You feel sorry if 300 of your own countrymen die in a war today. You don’t feel sorry when you hear a historical story you’ve heard before about 300 men that went looking to fight that died fighting.
Common sense, bud.

Fight Club is possibly the most overrated movie of all-time. I was so completely bored watching it that it took me two attempts just to get through it. Combine your typical cheesy Hollywood actors (come on, Brad Pitt? Seriously?!) with a horridly stale premise (it was all in his mind… ooh, how original) and you have the recipe for a downright pathetic movie.

As someone else mentioned, I’ve never known any ACTUAL people who like this movie. I think all of the fans must be kids, or at least were when it came out.

i agree with Spade. Fight Club isn’t overrated. The misperception is. as for Dark knight, it should’ve been called The Joker. was fun reading the list though

I am going to agree with you on some of these movies, but there are a few that I have to disagree with you on as well. For example, lets take 300. I realize that the historical acuracy is not there but I just hate it when people base movie ratings and/or opinions of movies on something like this. If you want something historically acurate the History channell and Discovery channel are always waiting for you at home. And I don’t really see them acting like they are better than everyone else except in the fact that they have a plan that they know and having other people there will not only provide no help , but it will also hinder what they are trying to accomplish. Which is to protect all of Greece from a tyrant.

Ahh man! Come on, how ya gonna knock Boondock Saints?! That my friend is a movie that was definitely not overrated… If I could add any “Cool movie” to this list it would have to be Johnny Depps attempt at being a modern day scarface..

But, later in the film someone (I think it is Baldwin) comments on how they stopped the Chinese in California only to find that the processors were phonies. So it is possible that Nicholson’s crew simply kept the stolen ones. If I remember right.

However, in The Departed, unless I’m not remembering correctly, those processors weren’t fake. They were the ones stolen (by Miles Kenefic) they are talking about in Damon’s first meeting after his first promotion

Fight Club – Chuck Palaniuk generally writes dark comedies that often get confused for gritty manifestos. While Fight Club might be interpreted as a large social commentary to make you sit down and think about our dependence on cheap Swedish furniture, you are really just meant to laugh at it. The author’s real problem doesn’t seem to be with the movie but with how people perceive the movie.

300 – So I guess the author didn’t noticed the “based on the graphic novel by Frank Miller” bit in the opening credits or in the commercials on tv. The movie tries to capture the feel and even sometimes recreates specific panels from the graphic novel/comic book. So, complaining that the movie which is based on a graphic novel, isn’t historically accurate is pretty dumb.

Episode III – The first Star Wars prequel was by far the worst. Episode II did suck but not as bad as Episode I. I do agree that most people thought Episode III was a good movie by comparison to the 2 that came before it.

I agree 100% on what was said about Megan Fox and the Dark Knight. Megan Fox is hot but marginally talented and the Dark Knight was a terrible plot hole ridden story with an amazing performance by the late Heath Ledger.

So I disagree with some of what you’ve said, but agree with most. Here are the two things I had an issue with: ’300′, and Jason Statham.
I am so tired of people complaining that ’300′ was historically and factually inaccurate! It is a movie, based on a comic book, that was inspired by another movie. Why on earth would anyone expect historical accuracy from a movie based on a comic book? It’s like complaining that ‘V for Vendetta’ was historically or factually inaccurate, just because it was inspired by real events.
Now on to Jason Statham. I realize this was a very minor point in the whole article but for some reason it really bugs me. I am a Jason Statham fan, and yes ‘Snatch’ does portray his talents, but to say that it was “probably his best role before ‘The Bank Job’”? I completely disagree, what about ‘Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’? Also, I didn’t think his performance in The Bank Job is all that spectacular. If you want to see Jason Statham at his best I suggest Revolver, or London.
