Fascinating; I've been tying my ties in a Full Windsor my whole life and didn't even know what it was called. Although I'm not a Republican nor an Ivy Leaguer...seems to me a Half Windsor might also be useful if you have a tie that wants to end up being too short after it's tied...

I have been a scoutmaster for 12-14 year olds for the past year. Knot tying certainly has become essential for me. I'm amazed at two things: First, some boys can pick-up the knots like they've known them since they were infants; and second, no matter how much practicing I do, there are some knots I just can't remember how to tie after a few weeks. oh, and one more thing. Tell some boys that they can impress girls with their knot tying skills and watch them excel.
