Helpful tip: To get more torque out of your vice grips, weld a 2″ steel ring to the adjustment knob. That way you can clamp down and use a screwdriver to turn the ring and really put some serious pressure on it. Also you can tie a rope to the ring and hoist materials up onto a roof. Very handy.

I agree with pretty much most of the list, but as manly as the pipe wrench is, the other tools are far more useful. I know you mentioned pliers but not specifically mentioned, but extremely handy, are lineman’s pliers, or side-cutting pliers if you prefer. set of 9″ lineman’s, when you know what your doing, makes for, besides cutting wire, also twisting wire, stripping wire(takes practice), but also makes a handy hammer, loosen/tighten smaller hex nuts/bolts, reaming pipe/conduit, and pinching annoying people at work.

Most men don’t even know what they’re missing. I would never give up the yankee drill my dad gave me. It’s right beside my other tools you mentioned in your article.

Can someone please tell me the last time they have used a pipe wrench!! Yes it’s manly but this is the 10 tools you NEED not that are considered manly!! And even if that is the case why on earth is an allen wrench set #2 that’s by far one of the girliest tools out there….

I’ve got everything except the Channelocks. And I agree with the posters above about a drill and a level being useful tools to have.

A few other additions to a toolbox would be a flashlight (something that won’t roll away), a stud finder, and a carpenter’s pencil (has a thick lead and won’t roll away).
